Placenta-Derived Stem Cells Can Help Cure Diseases
Placenta-derived stem cells could one day be used to treat many life-threatening diseases. Cord blood stem cells have already being used to treat over eighty diseases. Cord blood stem cells, in combination with placenta-derived stem cells , are being researched to treat many other life-threatening diseases. Hematopoietic (blood forming) cells and CD34+ cells are found in the placenta, which is a very rich stem cell source. Another advantage of collecting placenta-derived stem cells in addition to traditional cord blood banking, is that the placenta is 10X richer in CD34+ cells, which studies show are the cells that matter most for treatment success and survival.
